PM congratulates Dominica on CCJ plans

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has congratulated Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica for his country’s enactment of  legislation to adopt the Caribbean Court of  Justice (CCJ) as the final Court of  Appeal.

The amendment was approved by Dominica’s House of  Assembly on Tuesday.

Speaking with Skerrit on Wednesday before the start of  the business session of  the 35th meeting of  the Conference of  CARICOM Heads of  Government in Antigua and Barbuda, Simpson Miller conveyed commendation.

She added, that the constitutional amendment was a vote of  confidence in the CARICOM regional institution, and the high quality of  the jurisprudence in the region.

The Prime Minister noted, that Dominica had set an example for other Member States, including Jamaica, which have not yet adopted the CCJ as their final Court of  Appeal.
