Parliamentarians remember Sir Howard

Members of  both Houses of  Parliament  paid tribute to former Governor General ,Sir Howard Cooke, who died earlier this month.

Sir Howard, who retired as Governor General in 2006, had a career in education and politics, before becoming the Head of  State.

The State Funeral will take place at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in  Kingston on August 8 at 10 o’clock

He will be buried at the National Heroes Park.

Official mourning

And the nation will observe two days of  official mourning on August 7 and 8 for the former Governor General.

The Lying-in-State for the public will take place on August 5 at the Cultural Centre, Sam Sharpe Square, Montego Bay and August 7 at the Mico University College in Kingston.

In addition, Condolence Books were opened today at King’s House; the Office of  the Prime Minister Western Region; Ministry of  Foreign Affairs; The Mico University; PNP Headquarters; and Hope United Church.

The Condolence Books will be opened daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
