Tax dodgers beware!

There’s more alarming information concerning tax compliance in Jamaica.
Finance Minister Dr. Peter Phillips says the number of  tax delinquents has grown and among them are large corporations.

During yesterday’s Parliamentary debate on two pieces of  legislation to improve tax collection the Finance Minister said less than half  of  registered companies in Jamaica are tax compliant. The Finance Minister expressed concern about the level of  delinquency by large companies

The Tax Collection Miscellaneous Provisions Act; and the Tax Penalties Harmonisation Act, were passed in the House of  Representatives yesterday. And Dr. Phillips said the new pieces of  legislation will work in tandem with other laws to improve tax collection. He said the goal is to create equity as it relates to tax compliance
