High Command- Police should be properly identified

The Police High Command has responded to recent incidents in the St. Elizabeth Division, in which unscrupulous persons have purported to be members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

In a statement yesterday, the High Command urged the public to ensure that proper identification is sought from members of  the Force to ensure that they are operating within the precincts of  the law.

It said members of the JCF also have a responsibility to identify themselves when carrying out duties, and be properly identified by their ID cards and badge numbers, which appear on uniforms.

It’s reported that, in one incident last week, a farmer in Santa Cruz was held at gun point and robbed at her home by men posing as policemen. The woman was not injured.
