Principal of the Jonathan Grant High School, Dr Oniel Ankle, is scheduled to reappear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s Court on September 2, 2014 to answer to assault charges involving a student.

When the matter came up for mention yesterday, the court failed at getting the complainant’s mother to accept mediation in the matter.

It was then put off for a mention date.

It is being alleged that in September last year, the complainant was at school when he reportedly disrespected a teacher at school during a class session.

It was brought to the principal’s attention and he allegedly used a piece of plastic pipe to hit the child.

He went home and related what had happened to his mother.

The matter was subsequently reported to the Portmore Police Station and an investigation conducted by Constable Kohan Fuller resulted in the educator being served with a summon to answer to a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.
