Pandemonium broke out at a popular Corporate Area movie theatre on Tuesday when a superintendent of police vehemently refused to give up a seat in the theatre after being asked to do so.
The drama involving the senior cop unfolded about 8:30 p.m. during the viewing of the movie Sex Tape, starring Jason Segel, Cameron Diaz, Rob Corddry and Ellie Kemper.
A source revealed that as the movie started, two patrons got up to purchase food. It was at this point that the senior cop and a female companion occupied the seats when the patrons went to the lobby.
It is said that persons in the cinema told the cop that the seats belonged to other persons; however he would not be moved and disregarded all that they had to say. When the patrons returned an argument developed between them and the cop.
A moviegoer attempted to video the altercation but had his tablet taken away by the senior officer.
was insulted
This soon led to staff members offering the cop and his companion another seat but he refused to budge. It is alleged that the manager tried to get them to move but was insulted in the process by the senior policeman, who remained in his seat.
By this time the movie had to be stopped as moviegoers began to get testy. A team from the Matilda’s Corner Police Station is reported to have been called to the scene.
The source said that the senior cop however told them, “go find something to do! get back to work.”
When the theatre was contacted yesterday the manager was unavailable for comment. Our news team was told however by a representative that he was aware of the incident.
“I heard of an incident but I do not had any details. You would have to talk to Ms. who will return tomorrow [today],” the represntative said.
An officer at the Matilda’s Corner Police Station confirmed that an incident did take place at the theatre but would not go into details on the matter.
