Lord Knight, an astute pit bull from Big Yard Kennells, walked away with the top prize, the ‘Best of Show’, during Purina sponsored All-Dogs Health Fair and Family Fun Day at Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre last Sunday.
The canine also won two other awards,Best Original Pit bull and Best of Breed. Gregory, trainer and handler for Lord Knight, said the dog has won top awards in Jamaica and overseas.
Trainer Peter Hibbert from Rockstone Kennel took home three titles with histwo-year-old pit bull,Orbit, which won Best Standard Bully, and Best in Variety.
Other selected awardees included Racquel, Best Standard Female Bully and Daisy for Best Working Dog. Daisy is a mixed-breed four-year old. She was handled by owner Michelle Damali.
The audience was in stitches as Roxine Mitto, owner of Cash Money, winner of Best Jamaican Mongrel, walked the dressed-up mutt. To top things off, she did a cameo performance of Bob Marley’s Redemption Song.
Georgia Balfour, product manager for Purina Pet Foods, main sponsor of the event, was pleased by the quality dogs on show.
The next two shows are Sunday, July 27, at Jarrett Park Sport Complex, Montego Bay, St James, and the eastern parish of St Thomas, Colonel Cove, on Sunday, August 17.
