The body of former Governor-General Sir Howard Cooke will lie-in-state at the Montego Bay Cultural Centre in Sam Sharpe Square, St. James on August 5. It will take place from 9am to 5pm.
Lloyd B. Smith, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who chairs the committee spearheading the event, said this will be followed by an all-night vigil at Farm Heights United Church, which Sir Howard founded.
There will be a sitting of both Houses of Parliament today to pay tribute to Sir Howard.
The State Funeral for the former Governor General will take place at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kingston on August 8 at 10 o’clock. He will be buried at National Heroes Park in Kingston.
