WESTERN BUREAU:
The case against a St James man accused of stabbing his brother to death during an altercation in 2013 has been deferred to September 10, as the prosecution’s case file is not ready.
Kadian Martin from Norwood is charged for the murder of his brother, Dennis Martin. He had his bail extended when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Allegations are that on November 1, 2013, the brothers had a dispute during which the now-deceased armed himself with a machete and the accused man armed himself with a knife.
During the fight, the brother was stabbed twice in the chest. He was later pronounced dead at hospital.
Clerk of the court Natalie Malcolm, told Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie that one document was outstanding from the prosecution’s case file.
“The file is not ready, as the post-mortem report is still outstanding. By Friday, it should be finished,” said Malcolm.
“Sir, you are to return here on September 10. Your bail is extended,” RM Tie told Martin.
