Dancehall rhythm High Life drops on itunes

The ultra-popular dancehall rhythm, High Life, featuring several dancehall heavyweights, was officially released on iTunes on Tuesday.

“The riddim itself is on the front page of reggae iTunes so that is a great look. The High Life riddim is getting some incredible play on radio across all stations,” producer Justus Arison of JA Productions said.

Arison is moving quickly towards radio promotion stateside. “I am just going into the North American part of the promotion with 99 Jams and Nikki Z on a station in Hartford, Connecticut, so we are turning things up to another level. Mavado has been posting videos of his lead single on Instagram and he has many hip hop fans in North America,” Arison added.

Four artistes have already shot videos for their individual singles, a development that will amp up promotion.

“Munga and I have released the video for our single, Ryno’s video for Side Chick will be released this weekend, Chi Ching shot his video for Up and Beenie Man did his Million Gal video last week so the promotion is about to hit another level,” Arison revealed.

The ice cream smooth rhythm is already providing the backdrop for party events and street dances all over the Corporate Area because of the great mix of heavyweight acts and superstars.

Dancehall superstar Mavado leads out the project with High Life, where he boasts about his international weed-smoking credentials which crisscrosses time zones and continents. Red-hot dancehall act Ishawna has the breakout hit on the rhythm with the emotionally charged Restraining Order, which seems to have taken a life of its own because of its delicious subtext and real-life references to the end of her high-profile relationship with popular selector Foota Hype.Beenie Man returns to his ‘gallis roots’ as he outlines his gallis credentials.

Gyptian complements the rhythm perfectly with All On Me. Blak Ryno channels his inner Sean Kingston (Make Up Your Mind) as he expresses his love for his Side Chick, while Singer J shows off the incredible range of his voice on Your Love. Chi Ching brings his humour and street credentials to Up. Mr Lexx impresses with Do Road, while Munga teams up with Arison himself for I Life.

Razz releases debut rhythm, "Razz Attack"

The Razz Attack rhythm is the debut production from sound system selector and disc jock Sean ‘Razz’ Cousley.

The dancehall rhythm features 10 tracks from up-and-coming acts as well as established names. It is the first release under his Razz Attack Muzik label.

“I have an extensive knowledge of good music, and a keen ear to music that will progress into greatness and ones that will last forever. I love music, and it has helped me immensely and production is an excellent way to recreate and reevaluate what is released on air, and it is my contribution to the business I have grown to understand and love,” Cousley said in a media release.

The beat was built by artiste and producer Craig ‘Serani’ Marsh. Getting artistes involved with the production was an easy task for Cousley.

“It wasn’t difficult to get the artistes who are on it now, but there were other artistes that I tried to have on the project as well. However, they were either too busy or weren’t interested,” he noted.

Featured on the rhythm are This A Di Best by Dexta Daps, Loyal Yute by Demarco, Print Pon Dem Face by Dean Loyal, Nuh Tek Bad Up by I Octane, One Life To Live by Delus and Rikroot, Write The Book by Lady Saw, Grey Sky Blue by Ryme Minista, Get Gal Easy by Kanambo, Who Me by Serani and Razz Attack and Prescription by Ryme Minista.

Since its release, the rhythmm has been receiving significant airplay on most radio stations and is fast becoming a favourite with music industry selectors and the general public.

A mix CD titled Razz Attack Summa (Dancehall Mix CD 2014) was recently release to boost the promotion of the project.

Cousley is a former Kingston College student. He also studied at the University of Technology (Utech). He plans to get more involved in music production.

Riddim guru does it again - Happy Boulevard rhythm a hit

Multitalented producer, Seanizzle, has done it again with his Happy Boulevard rhythm.

The rhythm features artistes such as I’Octane, Kapri, Lukie D, T’nez, Bryka, Mr G, Seanizzle himself with the title single, Happy Boulevard, along with many more artistes.

The rhythm, released less than two months ago, has been getting heavy rotation on local and international airwaves.

Seanizzle has nothing but high hopes for the project. “The feedback as been great; everywhere I’ve been to promote the riddim, everyone instantly places the riddim in their juggling, saying the riddim gave them a happy vibes – just what was intended by Happy Boulevard,” he said.

The first video for the rhythm, Kapri’s Bad by Myself, shot in Pennsylvania, will be released monthend.

Recently a video of Kevin Hart dancing to the Seanizzle-produced Beenie Man song, I’m Ok, on the 2010 One Day rhythm, was posted on social media. The video got more than 25,000 likes on Instagram.

“It’s a great feeling knowing my music is appreciated by people of different cultures not just the reggae/dancehall community,” Seanizzle said of the video.

The One Day rhythm produced by dancehall producer Seanizzle continues to reap success overseas, this as popular singles ‘Nah Sell Out’ and Rum And Red Bull are both nominated in New Jersey, for being two of the most played songs in that side of America.

The award is called the ‘Do Oscar Award’ and is a product of Vibes Link FM, based in the US.

Other Jamaican-produced songs which made the cut are Vybz Kartel’s Cake Soap, Mavado’s Pepper, Gyptian’s Hold You and Popcaan’s Only Man She Want.

According to Seanizzle’s publicist, Nackesha Doyley, the producer feels appreciated.

“It is definitely a good feeling for Sean, he is a great producer and he is very persistent. He takes his music seriously and he feels good that his work is being appreciated elsewhere,” Doyley said.

Khago, who recently returned from a US tour, told THE WEEKEND STAR: “I feel good about being nominated. I didn’t expect it but a di hard work wey mi put in. It’s a good look to see that yu sing a song three years ago and when yu step in a hip-hop club yu music still a play if dem even only a play three songs from dancehall. Win or lose, I still win, because we a go up against people like Vybz Kartel and Gyptian. Sometime all yu need is one song to connect with the people and Nah Sell Out has a good chance’.

Khago continued: “Inna Jamaica, dem always a put away music too fast, but in America and the rest of the world a different thing, music last longer.”

Elvis Redwood, who produced Only Man She Want, says he is humbled.

“It’s a humbling feeling when you can sit back and soak in what it feels like to be a success in your field, this is merely a motivation to continue and put in the real work,” the producer said.

The nominated songs were monitored over a three-year period. The award show will be held on Sunday in the US.

Braeton producer optimistic about new rhythm

Braeton producer, Barrington ‘Barry Cash’ Reynolds, is quite optimistic that his latest project ‘Martha Stick’ rhythm will create a buzz on the streets of Jamaica.

Reynolds, the CEO of Jafrican Music, said that he has been working on this particular project with a number of young artistes to put out a ‘decent production’ for the people.

Reynolds works from his Braeton Phase 3 home, where he expects lead artiste Wazzi and a supporting cast of dancehall artistes, such as Pesty, the son of veteran DJ, Rohan Irie, Red Starr and JR will bring success to this relatively new production house.

Wazzi’s song on the rhythm shows him expressing himself to the woman of his dreams. “True love the girl seh, this is a song about a girl who wants true love, and I’m the one she needs it from,” Wazzi said in a recent interview. He admitted that the music industry is quite competitive and artistes must come with their ‘A game’ all the time.

“I come to set the pace, it’s quite competitive on the streets, and I’m working towards being on top. You have to bring it 100 per cent. Music is everything to me,” he disclosed.

Also on the rhythm, Red Starr and JR, record about the type of girl they want, while Pesty hits out against men that boast about being a “gallis, but nah get nothing”.

Wazzi, who is obviously a versatile artiste, is also on Reynold’s three-track reggae CD compilation, which also features Reynolds himself, Junior X, Xyclone, and Meilo Smooth.

Reynolds is not new to music as he has worked with the likes of Fab 5 and Grammy award-winner Toots Hibbert.”It’s really exciting times for this production house, and we are waiting to see the feedback we get from the general public, as we are already getting a lot of support from the community,” Reynolds said.
