Venom Legacy making strides with new single

Venom Legacy

Venom Legacy has been making inroads with his latest single ‘No More (Peace, Love and Unity)’.

The song is produced by Deano Deann Records and is inspired by crime and violence which occurred in Jamaica and the world as well as the Boston marathon bombing.

The 26-year-old singjay, who is based in Boston, US, was born Leaskel Cameron in Stadium Gardens, Kingston. He later relocated to St Thomas. It was during his teenage years that he honed his skills performing with the choir at the Pentecostal Haven Church.

Four years ago he migrated to the United States. Since relocating, he has been busy making a name for himself, recording for various producers, while performing on various stage shows and events.

He has teamed up with Fiyah Binghi of Fiyah Bass Studio where he did a few tracks. These days he is working out with Cherry Ryan of Sofiri Entertainment, which has decided to take his career to the next level.

recording debut

Andrew Powell, of Stampede Street Chart has been on board in recent months to increase the promotion of Venom’s music locally.

His recording debut came with the track Crack Skull featuring Hi Medz, a counteraction to Popcaan’s Hot Skull. His other releases include Born Poor (Haffi Get Rich), which was produced by Charley Pro Records; Can’t Stop What’s Rising (produced by Charley Pro Records); Sky Is The Limit (produced by ALZ Records) and Side Effect.

He describes his musical journey as a rough one but filled with great experiences.

“I’m bringing music with real life experiences which most persons can relate to. Music with substance,” he explained.

Venom Legacy has two singles to be released. They are Natural Is The Mystic (Chris G Records), and Just Life (Base Line Records).

He has opened shows in the Boston area for the likes of Demarco, I-Octane, Shaggy, Delly Ranks and Beenie Man.

Obama making record use of presidential memos - Fed judge: Obama immigration actions "unconstitutional"

President Obama reportedly is using a unique form of executive action known as the “presidential memorandum” at a historic pace – a tactic that allows him to, technically, claim he’s not over-using executive orders while still pursuing high-level policy changes without involvement from Congress.

A review by USA Today, published Wednesday, shows that, in fact, Obama has issued more memoranda than any U.S. president in history. He’s issued 198 – more than the 195 executive orders from his White House.

The executive action is strikingly similar to an executive order, with only slight differences. But by using the memos, this is how Obama and his advisers have claimed the president is not over-using executive orders.

According to USA Today, when the memos and executive orders are combined, Obama is on pace to issue more “high-level executive actions” than any president since Harry Truman.

As noted in the review, Obama’s most controversial executive action of late – an overhaul of the U.S. immigration system including de facto legal status for up to 5 million illegal immigrants – was done through memoranda.

Those actions already have led to legal challenges – and one judicial rebuke. On Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge Arthur Schwab, in Pennsylvania, issued an opinion claiming some of Obama’s actions were unconstitutional.

The opinion, though, was delivered in a case not directly related to those actions, and the Justice Department downplayed Schwab’s opinion as “unfounded” and “flatly wrong.”

According to the USA Today review, Obama has used memoranda to take a number of other actions, including directing the Labor Department to collect salary data from federal contractors to see what they’re paying women and minorities, and directing federal law enforcement agencies to trace firearms that are part of federal probes.

The differences between an order and a memorandum are slight. According to the USA Today review, executive orders are numbered and memoranda are not. Executive orders have to cite the law they’re based on, and memoranda do not. Both actions can be used for similar purposes, though.

So Many Ways Of Making Money Online

I find it absolutely amazing how the internet has just permeated into every aspect of our lives. Money used to be represented by gold, copper or other metals. The value of money used to be backed by the amount of gold the issuer had. Then when money was taken off the gold standard, it became represented by paper. The piece of paper in itself had no real value. It was who was printing that piece of paper that mattered. Money became an IOU of sorts. Today, with the internet, money is not even that piece of paper anymore. It is represented just by numbers. Money can be created out of nowhere, and can disappear as quickly. Making money has never been easier. Today, even virtual products can be bought and sold, for real money. All thanks to the internet.

So what are the ways of making money online ? My list is far from exhaustive, I’m sure.

Online marketing has been used in the real world, where real products are bought and sold. Supermarket chains now allow their customers to order their products online. Shopping used to take 2 hours, including travelling time. Not to mention, one had to match one’s timing to when the shops were open. Today, you can do your groceries at 1 am, and get them delivered the next day. Just log onto the website, click a few items and pay with your credit card. Done. You don’t even need to buy your things from shops in your neighbourhood. The shops don’t even need to be in your country. In some cases, the shops don’t even exist in the real world, just online. You can get books and many other products from Amazon.com. eBay is virtually synonymous with online buying and selling. You never have to touch a paper dollar. Paypal transfers some numbers from your account to the merchant’s account at a click of a button. Selling products online has opened a whole new world of customers. Now you can sell your products to people worldwide. All they need is an internet connection. Then the postal service collects the goods, and ships them over to you. And I thought with the advent of faxes and emails, the postal services will go out of business. Now they are busier than ever.

So what else can one buy with online marketing ? Digital products are becoming increasingly popular. E-books, computer programmes etc can all be sent through the internet. No need to wait for the postal service to deliver the product to you. Just click on the button, pay with paypal or your credit card, a few numbers disappear again, and the product is yours ! Huge business. If the Google advertisements are to be believed, many people are getting rich just selling digital products online. The production costs are minimal. Outlay doesn’t cost much. It is hardly surprising these products are able to pay out as high as 50-70% in commissions.

Google and Yahoo! function almost entirely in the internet world. Look how rich their creators have become, and their wealth is still increasing.

Then you can make money online with advertisements. Google AdSense is probably one of the best known ones. People pay Google for its pay-per-click ads, called adwords. Others allow Google to put a few little advertisements on their websites. Hardly complicated. In fact, for the Google people, it’s almost nothing, as the advertisements are written by the advertisers themselves. The computer helps them find places for the advertisements to appear. People who want the advertisements simply apply to have them appear on their websites. Someone else clicks on the advertisement, the advertiser gets charged, and the “advertisee” gets paid. Hopefully a sale also results. And Google makes a fortune. They must be hundreds of digital products and blogs / websites all tailored towards making money using AdWords or adsense. These products in themselves generate millions of dollars.

There are also many websites set up specifically for people to get their websites noticed by those searching for similar products. Some are free. Others charge a fee. You can always get a website set up by someone who is technologically savvy, or use one of the many services available.

Then there’s affiliate marketing. Wonderful way of making money online. For this, you don’t even need to have products. You just borrow other people’s products, market it for them, and get paid commissions if the products are sold. Add this on to websites that get created for you, and you barely need to do much work yourself. I’ve found that you can even pay people to write articles for you to promote the products ! Some places that offer affiliate marketing I’ve found are clickbank, amazon and the rich dad company.

If all this sounds too complicated, there are the old easy ways of making money online. Enterprising people have put together lists of companies who are happy to pay people to answer surveys online. For a small fee, these companies are able to get surveys to find answers to how their customers feel, what they want and what products they like. They don’t have to hire people to do it for them anymore. At a click of a button, they can send the surveys out to many who have registered with them to answer surveys. In the past, someone would have to call each person up and speak to them. As for those answering the surveys, it is really easy money. For a few minutes of their time, at their own leisure, they just click a few answers and the money comes in ! Wonderful concept.

Just a side comment. Trading in stocks and their derivatives have been around for a long time. All this has become so much easier with the internet. Traders no longer need to call up their brokers frantically trying to buy or sell their stocks. That’s another way to make money online.

And finally, this one took me by surprise when I first read of it in the newspapers. People are now selling virtual products online. There are many online games, some where players from all over the world meet in the virtual world. Some games involve creating characters with particular powers, or with particular weapons that can be used against other players. The article mentioned that some people were actually paying others real money for virtual weapons !

There are so many ways of making money online. Money is being created everyday this way. And all it takes is a lot of imagination , eyes to see where the money is and a little technical know-how.

The Untold Secret To Making Money Online

Are you trying to make money online? Would you like to know the UNTOLD secret to successfully cracking the online money code and creating a really successful home business?

It’s the TECHNOLOGY.

All the money making schemes and ideas people have and promote are not worth anything without the technology to back them up. Why? Because you can’t event begin to make any money until you have the technologies required in place to execute those strategies.

Websites are the foundation of making money online. Without a website you can NOT begin to conduct any business.

However, today you need much more than a website. To make money online, the idea of a website needs to be expanded from a cheap hosting account PLUS some webpages INTO a complete and automated business engine.

The website is where your potential customers find you on the Internet. A website is where you present your products or services. A website is where those potential customers interact with you online business.

But to turn a website into a business, or better yet into a money website or money machine, you need to incorporate a lot more technology. You need to add additional software applications to: create and manage your webpages, generate headline ideas, add audio and video to present your products, track the sources of your traffic, test your conversions, collect and process credit cards, shipping the products and keep track of the money and business stats.

This is a lot of technology to purchase, set up and manage.

So you have two choices, either hire an experienced professional webmaster to identify the technology pieces you’ll require and then purchase and set them up for you…

OR

Spend a few years learning enough to do it yourself.

If you are going to do it yourself, here’s what you need.

* A good hosting account.

* Learn some HTML

* An easy to use sitebuilder application

* An email autoresponder

* A traffic tracking software application

* A easy to use split testing application

* A merchant account for credit cards

* A stats package to monitor the stats and money

You can expect to spend 12 to 18 months learning the basics of webhosting, HTML, and the basics of numerous software applications. And remember that means you’re not spending time on the more important aspects of getting traffic and converting it into customers and money.

And that is CRITICAL.

Alex Mandossian, one of the uber successful Internet marketers, gave me the secret to online success when he said:

“The secret to making money online is to spend NO MORE than 10% of your time on technology, so you can spend 90% of your time on getting traffic and converting it into customers and money… because that’s how the money is made online.”

He then finished with this critical piece:

“There’s no money in learning the technologies… unless you want to be a webmaster.”

So if you’re not a geek and you don’t have the money to hire a professional webmaster, then you should avoid the technology trap (of trying to learn and manage it yourself) and instead, get one of the hosted services that provides all the hosting and money making technologies required to make money online.

Not only will it save you a huge amount of time, but, it save enormous amounts of MONEY. Typically these services cost about ONE-TENTH the cost of purchasing separate software applications. And the savings really add up when you factor in the cost of integrating all the applications so that they all work together as a money website or money machine.

The secret to making money online is having the best automated technology you can get.

"Uncle Come" making the rounds over the airwaves

File

Dann-I

Sadeke Brooks, Staff Reporter

Steadily growing as a solo act, singer Dann-I says he has been getting much attention from his new single, Uncle Come.

It is not just another ‘bun’ song, but about a man who finds out that his spouse’s lover visits his home regularly and is referred to by his children as ‘uncle’.

Dann-I explained that the idea for the song came aout through a discussion he was having with his manager, Sonny Spoon.

“We just a talk and the idea come and I put it in a song. It was not personally inspired,” he said, laughing.

Still a relatively new act on the scene, Dann-I says he is pleased with the reception the song has been getting since being released four months ago.

“It a gwaan good inna the streets. People have been relating to the song more than I even expected. People have really been gravitating to the song. I think they like it and it has been getting good airplay,” he told THE STAR.

Dann-I, who was once part of the singing group, Q, says he cannot predict what will eventually happen with the song, but he is very pleased with the progress.

“Mi just leave it up to the people to really decide what happens because music is so unpredictable. I personally like Time No Wait more, but the people seem to be gravitating to this more,” he said, noting that Time No Wait spent two months at number one on the Hitlist reggae chart.

The young singer also has other songs under his belt including Honey Lips and Miss New York City, but he says he is focusing on promoting Uncle Come.

REDjet admits to making mistakes

More than two years after REDjet ceased flying to Jamaica and other regional destinations, a former director of the airline has admitted that the carrier’s management made mistakes, but he insists that sabotage played a role in its demise.
While not calling names, Ralph “Bizzy” Williams charged that REDjet’s main competitor LIAT was allowed to get away with predatory pricing.
He added that aviation authorities in some countries put stumbling blocks in the way of the former Barbados-based airline that its collapse was inevitable.
REDjet first tried to set up operations in Jamaica but moved to Barbados after being denied permission by the Jamaican Government.
It lasted just under 12 months in the skies and ceased operations on March 16, 2012 after falling into deep financial trouble.
Predatory Pricing

Speaking at an Editors’ Forum at the Nation Publishing Company in Barbados, the former REDjet director revealed that the region was unlikely to get the private sector to fund the creation of another airline unless there were fundamental changes to the current structure. Mr. Williams said it was incumbent that regulations be established to prevent carriers from introducing predatory pricing as soon as a new competitor comes on the market.
In the meantime, the former REDjet director gave examples of some of the mistakes made by the airline.
He admitted that the management lacked enough experience in the airline industry.
Mr. Williams also expressed misgivings about the extremely low introductory rates that REDjet brought to the market.
He said instead of going with 9 dollars 99 cents it should have gone with 19 dollars 99 cents.

Making music for Mandela

NELSON Mandela was in his 18th year of imprisonment on South Africa’s Robben Island when Jimmy Cliff visited the country in May 1980.

Though international opposition to South Africa’s Apartheid system was fierce, Cliff defied the stigma of being blacklisted and became the first Jamaican reggae artiste to perform in the renegade country. He did three shows in Soweto, Durban and Cape Town, playing to enthusiastic audiences, especially in Soweto, the impoverished township which was a flashpoint for the anti-Apartheid struggle.Copeland Forbes, Cliff’s road manager on the two-week trip, recalls apprehension in the singer’s camp when he was approached by a group of black South African promoters to perform in their country.“It was exciting for us, since most of us had never been to Africa. But we also knew about Apartheid and that people (including musicians and sportsmen) who went to South Africa were banned,” Forbes recalled.Cliff had been a superstar since the early 1970s through his starring role in the movie The Harder They Come. He had visited Africa several times and performed in Nigeria.Forbes says Cliff was hugely popular in South Africa. His cover of Bob Marley’s No Woman No Cry was an anthem there, while his I Am The Living album was also popular. The first show in Soweto was by far the largest, Forbes remembers. It attracted over 100,000 fans of all races who gave Cliff a rapturous welcome.“It was a moving sea of human beings… black, white, Indians. Everybody was shouting ‘Jimmy! Jimmy!” said Forbes. “There was also a lot of security with dogs.”Though they stayed in suitable accommodations, Cliff and his Oneness band experienced South Africa’s rigid colour barriers.“We went to the parks and stores and we saw signs marked ‘Whites only’ or ‘Blacks and Coloured,” said Forbes.During a break from shows, Cliff and his band went to Table Mountain, a scenic location in Cape Town overlooking Robben Island. They played bongo drums for most of the day in tribute to Mandela, a founding member of the African National Congress who had been imprisoned since 1962 for his fight against Apartheid.Forbes says Cliff was blacklisted briefly for his South African trip. There had been opposition to his visit by some militant blacks, but Forbes believes the general response among the native population was positive.“A Zulu warrior told me that it was Jimmy’s music that soothed him in tough times. To a lot of black people, we were like saviours,” he said.Nelson Mandela was freed from prison in 1990 after 27 years. Jimmy Cliff has not performed in South Africa since his historic sojourn 33 years ago.Jimmy Cliff (seated centre) and his band in South Africa in 1980.
