Chinese President Xi Jinping has declared that Cuba’s economic reforms could lead to greater commercial ties between the two nations.
Mr Xi made the comment while he was in Cuba on Tuesday as part of a nine-day tour of Latin America that has highlighted China’s growing ties to the region. He previously visited Brazil, Venezuela and Argentina.
The Chinese President said, given the reforms, Cuba could attract significant Chinese investments.
Under Raul Castro, Cuba has decentralised state-owned enterprises, legalised home and used car sales and let hundreds of thousands of people open or work for small businesses.
