The Appeal Court is to rule on Thursday whether it will grant former Commissioner-General of Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) Viralee Latibeaudiere, the green light to take her legal battle with the Finance Ministry to the UK Privy Council.
Lawyers for Latibeaudiere on Tuesday applied to the court for leave to take her matter before the Law Lords.
The Government also applied for leave to take its grouse to the Privy Council.
It wants to challenge a ruling handed down in favour of the former Commissioner –General by the Supreme Court.
In May, the Appeal Court threw out Latibeaudiere’s case after she failed to file her fixed date claim form, within the prescribed 14-days.
Latibeaudiere filed a lawsuit two years ago after the Finance Ministry sought to terminate her contract.
She accused the Ministry of breaching her constitutional rights by forcing her out of the position.
