Reggae/dancehall artiste Kirk Diamond, has collaborated with Spanish Town-based TG on a single, ‘Dem Nuh Real’. The single is produced by Armzhouse records and has been getting favourable attention on radio.
Kirk Diamond is based in Canada, but was recently in Jamaica for the filming, editing and release of the music video for Dem Nuh Real, directed by Nellie Roxx and Cashflow Record’s Xtreme Arts.
Seeing his labour bear fruit was comforting for Kirk Diamond. “It was exciting to have Xtreme Arts shoot our video. I see their work almost every five mins, on TV, and to have them shoot this video was really a blessing,” he said.
The artiste also used the opportunity do a local photo shoot, which will aid in the promotion of his new EP to be released next January.
The photo shoot was done by Chris ‘Icey Jace’ Campbell. The EP will feature Kirk Diamond exclusively and will be his first solo project outside of his five-member boy band, Don Dem crew.
“I plan to do a video for each song on my EP. I just want to offer my fans a visual story to go along. Most radio DJs in Canada only play what’s hot in Jamaica. Just like most of the world, they look to Jamaica. For overseas-based dancehall and reggae artistes, it’s like you need that Jamaican stamp of approval to be taken seriously, so we spend all our money travelling back and forth.” he said.
Kirk Diamond and the Don Dem crew are also getting strong airplay for the single, Love Inna We Heart, produced by French-based Galang Records.
