Businessman DJ Smurf got more than what he bargained for at the recent launch of his sports bar, Smurf Turf. This as he was blessed with a joint performance from two of dancehall’s biggest icons.
The event was originally expected to feature Bounty Killer as the main guest celebrity, however, Beenie Man, who has always been a supporter of DJ Smurf, also turned up on the night and joined Bounty Killer on-stage.
The two on-and-off rivals then delivered a tag-team performance, much to the approval of the patrons. Other dancehall personalities who passed through the event included Iyara, Niney, Little Wicked, Rhyme Up and Joe Bling.
“Entertainment is a broad field and a sports bar is one of those exciting mediums through which entertainment can be provided. So I decided to dabble in that field because you can do so much things with it,” DJ Smurf said.
Smurf Turf sports bar will offer different attractions on selected nights such as Domino Mondays, which will see domino players from neighbouring communities clashing against each other for prizes, Karaoke Wednesdays, hosted by Okebo and will feature a guest artiste, and Friday Special on which customers will get a special deal on a selected product, which will vary each Friday. The DJ also says each night will have more attractions to offer as time progresses.
“I have a small staff in place to handle business at Smurf Turf, so I will be more than able to handle my schedule on radio,” the DJ said.
Smurf is now looking forward to his birthday celebration Smurfday Splash tomorrow at Margarittaville, Ocho Rios. The event will feature Bass Oddessy, ZJ Ice, DJ Nicco and DJ Ashile. Special guest artistes include I-Octane and Gage.
