The ‘Beautiful People’ hitmaker was sentenced to time already served by a judge after accepting a plea deal at a Washington DC Superior Court yesterday, where he was charged with misdemeanour assault for allegedly punching Parker Adams outside the W Hotel in October.

According to TMZ, the star apologised in court and said he wanted to get his music career back on track.

The singer’s bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, was also accused of hitting Parker, who claimed he was struck after trying to get in a photograph with the Yeah 3X hitmaker.

Chris’ girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, was present at the Washington DC Superior Court to lend her beau some support.

The singer was released from jail on June 2 after spending 108 days behind bars for violating his probation after he allegedly made threats about using guns while seeking anger-management treatment in rehab.

He was previously placed on probation for five years and sentenced to six months community service for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

Last month, the star was praised by a judge for his good behaviour after appearing at a Los Angeles court for a progress report on his probation.

Internationally renowned ice cream brand, Ben & Jerry’s, will release a special flavour of their popular ice cream in honour of Bob Marley’s Legend album, as a part of the celebrations for the album’s 30th anniversary this year.

The flavour will be called ‘Satisfy my Bowl’ and is aimed at drawing awareness to Marley’s vision for peace, love and social justice.

The socially conscious ice cream company wanted to pay tribute to the man who dedicated his life to bringing people together through music.

‘Satisfy My Bowl’, which was named by a Ben & Jerry’s fan, is a concoction of banana ice cream beats, a mash-up of caramel and cookie swirls, and a chorus of chocolatey peace signs.

All proceeds from the partnership will be contributed to the 1Love Foundation and Partners for Youth Empowerment, in an effort to empower young people in Jamaica, and continue Bob Marley’s legacy of using music to change the world.

According to Cedella Marley, representing the 1Love Foundation, the partnership will bring people together.

“To mark Legend’s 30th anniversary, we’re celebrating our father’s legacy of bringing people together and using music to drive social change through a sweet partnership with Ben & Jerry’s. Proceeds from a special edition ice cream flavour will enable the 1Love Foundation and Partners for Youth Empowerment to support young people in Jamaica by igniting their creative skills to promote peace, love and social equality.” she said.

Uwi student charged for ammo possesion

A university student, who is said to be on a full scholarship, was fined $20,000 or six months yesterday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’sCourt after he was caught with an empty drink box loaded with ammunition.

Charged with illegal possession of ammunition is 22-year-old Shevon Brown, a undergraduate at the University of the West Indies, Mona.

He pleaded guilty to the offence.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, in handing down the fine said, “One chance is all I am giving you.”

This was based on the bail application put forward by the attorney representing the accused man, who attributed many positives in relation to his academics and background.

The court heard that on the day in question a police team was on patrol in a Kingston community when Brown was spotted walking with the box in his hand.

Reports are that the police became suspicious and after a search was conducted the assorted rounds were found.

The court did not give the exact number, however, the clerk of court disclosed, “They found quite a lot, Your Honour.”

The court also heard that a family member gave Brown the box to deliver.

Brown has been in custody since August 29. A fingerprint order was also made against Brown.

Briton fined for smuggling cocaine in panty

A British resident was hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday after she was held recently leaving the island with a quantity of cocaine in her panty.

Charged with possession of, dealing in, taking steps to export and conspiracy to export cocaine is Lavine Nicholas.

Nicholas pleaded guilty to all four counts. The drug weighed one pound six ounces in total.

She was fined $150,000 or six months for possession, $200,000 or six months for dealing in $300,000 or six months to run consecutively, plus 18 months and 12 months for conspiracy, to run consecutively.

The court was told that Nicholas was held while on her way to England.

When asked by RM Judith Pusey why she shouldn’t go to jail for the crime, Nicholas said, “Your Honour, apart from being stupid, I was being influenced by someone.”

Nicholas’ fingerprints were also taken.

The search for the wreckage of the plane that crashed off the coast of Jamaica yesterday will resume today.

CEO and managing partner of Buckingham Properties, Larry Glazer, along with his wife Jane Glazer are believed to have perished in a plane which crashed 14 miles north-east off the coast of Port Antonio, Portland.

The Jewish couple was flying in a Socata TBM-700, a high performance single-engine turboprop plane designed to seat six to seven passengers.

The aircraft left Rochester, New York, at 8:45 a.m. yesterday and was scheduled to land in Naples, Florida. However, it veered off course before crashing off the coast of Jamaica.

The plane, identified by its tail number N900KN, was built, manufactured and purchased in 2014. Federal Aviation Authority records show that plane model retails for US$3.5million.

Numerous followers of the Buckingham Properties Facebook page expressed their thoughts and condolences to the family of the Glazers following the crash.

One follower wrote, “Prayers to the Glazer family from a stranger in Oklahoma”, while another user commented, “praying for you all.”

According to information on the page, Buckingham Properties has more than 60 properties totaling over 10.5 million square feet in the United States.

Glazer, who is the president of the TBM Owners and Pilot Association, has a master’s degree in finance from Columbia University.
