THE ULTIMATE RELEASES THREE NEW SINGLES

Fast-rising artiste The Ultimate has released three new singles entitled ‘Jah Jah Naah Sleep’, ‘Some Bwoy’ and ‘Boom Dem Dung’, which are creating a buzz on local radio stations.

The Ultimate, whose given name is Neil McFarlane, is known for his unique sounds, creativity, and his well constructed composition in which he delivers songs such as IWill Survive, Caah Do Mi Nuttn, My Goal, Over And Over, and I Wish, just to name a few.

He said that he is delighted with the response that he has been getting from his fans and is looking forward to greater things in the 2015.

“I am also giving thanks for the support that I have been receiving from both local and Internet radio stations,” said The Ultimate.

“The support has been great and so i am just going to continue to work hard and make good music for my fans,” he said.

The Ultimate added that he is busy in the studio working on new projects and also his EP, to be released in the coming year, and also a number of videos, which will also be released in the new year.

The Black Records recording artiste said he is very focused despite a number of challenges that he is facing.

Bicknell, Haughton win Carib Junior singles titles

SECOND seeds Andrew Bicknell and Shelitta Haughton captured the Boys’ and Girls’ 18 and under singles titles at the 2013 Blue Mountain Caribbean Junior Tennis Championships at the Liguanea Club in New Kingston on Friday.Fifteen-year-old Bicknell defeated top seed Dimitri Bird in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. After his victory, Bicknell, the All-Jamaica Junior Boys’ 18 and under singles champion earlier this month, said he was very pleased.He added that this was part of his preparation for next Monday’s start of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Jamaica Invitational Tournament to be played at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre.Meanwhile, second seed Haughton came from a set down to defeat top seed and All-Jamaica Junior Girls’ 18 and under singles champion Michealann Denton 5-7, 6-4 (15-13 tie-breaker).Haughton said it was a good game and she was very proud of her victory.“She had beaten me in the All-Jamaica singles final earlier this month and this I can say is a revenge victory for me,” Haughton said.The 17-year-old Haughton, who attends the KBC Learning Centre in Kingston, rallied nicely in the tie-breaker down 2-7, tied at 9-9 and 13-13 before winning the next two points to clinch the match 15-13.In the Boys’ 16 and under singles final, Blaise Bicknell, seeded at seven, beat top seed Kyle Martin in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, while the Girls’ 16 and under singles final was won by unseeded 10-year-old Jenna Harrison of Hillel Academy, beating unseeded Jade Wilkinson in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.The Boys’ 14 and under singles final was won by unseeded Upkioronfo Ikolo of Grenada, who beat unseeded Jean Phillipe Murray of St Lucia 4-6, 6-3 (10-4 tie-breaker). Top seed Michela Stephens won the Girls’ 14 and under singles title with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jenna Harrison.Top seed Chatani Karan defeated unseeded Zane Walters in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1 to capture the Boys’ 12 and under singles title.Meanwhile, Jamaica captured the team event title by beating both the Cayman Islands and Grenada 3-0.

DANCEHALL took the spotlight at the June 30 BET Awards in New York City with a high-energy segment produced by disc jockeys and sound system selectors Jabba and Bobby Konders.

It saw performances from Dawn Penn, Beenie Man, Chaka Demus and Pliers, and Elephant Man.With the exception of Elephant Man, all experienced a spike in sales of songs they performed, on Billboard’s Digital Reggae Singles Chart.There has been an increase in downloads for Penn’s You Don’t Love Me (No, No, No); Beenie Man’s Who Am I (Zim Zimma) and Girls Dem Sugar; and Chaka Demus and Pliers’ Murder She Wrote.The tracking week opened June 25 and closed at midnight five days later. Sales for that period will reflect on the Billboard charts for July 13.Penn first recorded You Don’t Love Me in the 1960s at Studio One for producer Clement ‘Coxson’ Dodd. In 1994, a remixed version reached number 58 on the Billboard Hot 100, and number 10 on the Dance Music Club Play chart.Hours after the BET Awards, the song sold 428 downloads and returned to the Digital Reggae Singles chart at number 60. The previous week, only 140 copies were sold.Total sales for You Don’t Love Me to date is 48,952.Murder She Wrote was released in 1993. One year later, it peaked at number 27 in the United Kingdom and number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.Since the BET Awards, Murder She Wrote has jumped from number 40 to number 21 on the Digital Reggae Singles chart, selling 1,234 downloads compared to 617 the previous week. The song’s total sales stands at 264,339 copies.First released in 1997, Girls Dem Sugar was remixed with Beenie Man and singer Mya in 2000. That version went number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 and 16 on the R&B Hip Hop table.On the latest Digital Reggae chart, Girls Dem Sugar re-enters at number 66 with 408 copies. The previous week, it moved 219 copies with total digital sales of 103,528.Who Am I (Zim Zimma), produced by Jeremy Harding in 1997, was featured on Beenie Man’s Many Moods of Moses album which sold over 250,000 copies.The single is back in the Digital chart at number 74 with 367 copies. The week before it moved 129 downloads, for mass figures of 58,938.Released in the US in 1998, Who Am I went number 40 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and number 15 on the R&B Hip Hop chart.
