Reggae artiste R Embassida is on the verge of a major breakthrough with his popular radio hit, ‘Why’.
The song has been in steady rotation on FM radio over the past two months and several dancehall fans have begun to tune in to R Embassida’s brilliant vocal stylings.
“Ah just straight music ah di pree right now. The fans dem love Why and it’s a great look. Mi know that music is my life. Without music, no life can exist. That is how important it is to me. Music is on the forefront of my battlefield,” the artiste, born Christopher Williams, said.
Born in Linstead, St Catherine on February 8, 1980, he attended Rosemont All Age and McGrath High School. After graduating from high school, he began to grow his covenant in 1997.
“I was naturally drawn to music but it wasn’t until several years later, in 2007, my classmates decided to start a label with me as a deejay because I was always the one deejaying in class. The label was called White Dove Records,” he said.
He began to work on fine-tuning his craft, but migrated to the USA soon afterwards. He never gave up his dream, and continued to write and record music. He returned to Jamaica to live in 2012, and he recorded the singles Why, Rough Times and Crime Stop. These singles, which embody the nerve and attitude of the streets, are now available on iTunes. Recently, a video for Why was put in rotation on CVM Plus, HYPE TV and several other stations.
