Companies in Jamaica’s mining and quarrying sectors received slightly more for their output in August.The information was released by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (Statin) as part of the Producer Price Index.
The Index shows operators in the mining and quarrying sectors received a zero point 9 per cent increase in the price of their products during the months. The operators reported that the higher prices were due to the depreciation of the Jamaican currency.
Overall, the mining and quarrying sectors recorded a 16.5 per cent increase in the prices of their output in the last 12 months.
