Accused extortionist offered bail

A man, who allegedly extorted the sum of $550 from a taxi driver, was offered bail in the sum of $100,000 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

Charged with demanding money with menace is Russhane Reynolds of a Donmair address in St Andrew. He pleaded not guilty.

The Crown alleges that on Friday, September 5 about 5:30 p.m., Reynolds, unemployed, approached the owner of a PPV vehicle and demanded money. The driver complied and Reynolds was allegedly given $550. The monies were however marked.

The accused was accosted and searched by police and the money discovered in his possession.

The matter has been set for mention on October 10.
