Friday, July 19, 2013HITHERTO Hath the Lord Helped Us, is the theme of this year’s gospel song competition and the top 10 songs entered in the competition are now available on a CD.Organised by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), the music ranges from inspirational sounds to contemporary as well as reggae-flavoured beats.The finalists are gearing up to showcase their talent at the national finals, which will be held on August 4 at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew.The gospel song competition, which began in 1987, has grown to become a part of the festival calendar.The competition is reported to attract over 200 artistes, producers and writers of original gospel music. Not only do the entrants benefit from this competition, but the general public stands to gain, in that, they experience the only gospel event of its kind, which in itself is considered to be wholesome family entertainment.
