Sanjay MyersWednesday, July 24, 2013The Windward Islands yesterday defeated Jamaica by 96 runs in the Regional Under-15 two-day encounter at the Alpart Sports Club to rule the hosts out of championship contention with one round of games remaining.In another fourth-round match, Trinidad & Tobago stayed top of the six-team standing after coming from behind to beat Guyana by three wickets at the St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) playfield.At the Treasure Beach Sports Complex, title-holders Barbados — in third place — remained in contention after cruising to an innings and 71 runs victory over last placed Leeward Islands.At the end of four rounds, Trinidad & Tobago have 44.1 points, ahead of Windward Islands on 41.5, Barbados on 38.8, Guyana on 31.2, Jamaica on 18.1, and Leeward Islands at the base of the table on 1.9.Windwards resumed from their second innings from an overnight score of 31-1 and were dismissed for 177 with Nick Elibox top scoring with 44, and Denzil James supporting with 41. Joshe-Anthony Grey took 3-46 for Jamaica.Scores: Windward Islands 142-9 (39 overs) and 177 (58.2 overs); Jamaica 109-9 (39 overs) and 114 (52.4 overs).Set 211 runs to win, Jamaica were bundled out for 114, as Johnell Eugene took 4-28. Richard McIntosh made a top score of 35 runs for Jamaica.At STETHS, Guyana started the day on 69-4 and were effectively dismissed for 151-9 after one batsman retired hurt. Richie Luknauth hit an unbeaten 33 against Emilo Gopaul, who starred with 6-50.Scores: Guyana 122 (37.2 overs) and 151-9 (61 overs); Trinidad & Tobago 110 (34.5 overs) and 167-7 (57.3 overs).In their successful run-chase, Trinidad compiled 167-7, thanks to Kirstan Kallicharan’s knock of 63. Ronaldo Mohamed led the Guyana bowling with 3-43.In the third match at Treasure Beach, Leewards resumed on 37-7 and were quickly mopped up for 64 all out.Scores: Leeward Islands 74 (32.4 overs) and 64 (33.3 overs); Barbados 209-7 (41 overs).Leewards’ batsman Dimitri Adams struck 25 runs against Reneil Smith (5-14) and Joshua Bishop (4-22).
