CONSOLIDATED Bakeries, which trades as Purity, says it has realised significant efficiencies through telemetry technology.
Telemetry technology facilitates Sales Force Automation (SFA) in achieving remote measurement and reporting of data to a centrally managed system by means of Digicel Business’ 4G mobile network to transmit data wirelessly with the use of Huawei tablets and SIM cards.“With the implementation of telemetry, we have been able to capture sales information daily as well as utilise the GPS tracking feature to have in-depth knowledge of the location of our sales representatives in real time,” said Danielle Henry, IT administrator at Consolidated Bakeries, who monitors the system.Consolidated Bakeries is the maker of a wide variety of products, including the popular Purity bread and Miss Birdie Bun lines. The company’s corporate CUG plan with over 90 members of staff, along with Digicel’s WIMAX landline services and telemetry, with the use of the tablets, not only aids the tracking of their daily sales, but also reduces costs and minimises waste, said Henry.“We use the smart phones to enhance productivity,” the IT administrator explained. “The team leader merchandisers use the smart phones to capture data including pictures daily to sync information at the head office with the cloud.”The tablets are used as input devices, with customised applications designed to provide the reps with the tools to improve their operational efficiencies by not having to come back to office at the end of each day to upload orders from a laptop or desktop computer. It also affords them the flexibility to check inventory in real time, while away from the office.“This cutting-edge technology helps Consolidated Bakeries to check their stock inventory remotely, generate orders, check customers’ credit status, and view promotions among other things, just as effectively as if they were in office,” Jason Corrigan, commercial director at Digicel Business, said.“And this is what we do at Digicel Business — we customise reliable, secure and scalable solutions for our customers to help them increase efficiency in their daily operations and ultimately cut costs to improve their bottom line.”Henry noted that Purity has achieved a lot of savings since they established a relationship with Digicel in 2008.“We have reduced paper usage significantly and the demand for human resource has dropped”, she said. “We have been using the Sales Force Solution for one year and the savings percentage would be approximately 50 per cent in paper usage,” she said, adding, “This is evident in our order level of invoice books for example, which has been turned over into ordering thermal rolls for the hand-held computers as these have a longer lasting life and cost the company less.”(L-R) Consolidated Bakeries team lead merchandiser Kevin Foresythe, IT administrator assistant Stephen Mullings, and regional sales manager Delarno Forrest, with Digicel regional sales manager Suzette Burley, viewing the hand-held computer Intermec PW50 series. Allied to Digicel Business’ 4G mobile network, the machine plays an integral role as it helps to capture sales information daily as well as tracking sales representatives in real time.View the original article here
