Rickey Teetz booked for reggae sumfest

Over the last year, dancehall entertainer Rickey Teetz has emerged as one of the most talented, hardworking artistes from western Jamaica.

The Montego Bay-based deejay has now landed the biggest gig of his career as he has been billed to perform on Dancehall Night during this year’s Reggae Sumfest showcase at Catherine Hall. The artiste is thrilled to be on the line-up of his first major reggae festival.

“I am going to give the fans a memorable performance. It’s been a long time coming for me in the music business and all my hard work is paying off,” Rickey Teetz said.

Rickey Teetz has carved out a niche for himself in the dancehall with his high-impact songs such as the socially conscious Lighters Up, which became a favourite on radio and street dances all over the island. He also has songs that cater to the steamier side of life such as the kinetic 6:30 Walk and the girls anthem, Tip Yuh, which were guaranteed crowd-pleasers.

He has worked hard to build up a repertoire of songs such as the chart-burner Poverty Life, Physically, 1000 Block and Loving You, which have been generating airplay in Jamaica and overseas.

“One of my most successful songs is Lighters Up, and the video itself, because of its message and plot, was a big hit with dancehall fans. It has been breaking barriers and climbing various charts,” he said.
