Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS), the country’s sole electricity distributor, is seeking to procure new, modern generators that will be flexible enough to adapt to the requirements of the renewable energy options that are being pursued.
Jamaica is pushing to have up to 30 per cent of its electricity generated from renewable sources.
That, according to Kelly Tomblin, CEO of JPS, requires that “we balance our system – the other generators that we bring on line – with that goal.”
