Lucky 13 for The Green

HAWAIIAN reggae band, The Green, has topped Billboard’s Reggae Album Chart with Hawaii 13.

This is the third number one for the six-member outfit. The album sold 4,960 copies in its first week, replacing rapper Snoop Lion’s Reincarnated at the top spot.Snoop’s album has sold 73,000 copies to date.Formed in 2009 in Oahu, Hawaii, The Green blends roots-reggae with traditional Hawaiian sounds. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2010, spent 69 weeks on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart.The single, Love I, was a big hit in their homeland.In May, 2011, The Green released its follow-up, Ways and Means, which spent four weeks at number one on the Reggae Album Chart. It also earned the group Best Reggae Album title at Hawaii’s 2011 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards.Khristopher returns with Waiting For YouBest known for his take on Debarge’s Who’s Holding Donna Now, The Backstreet Boys’ All I Have to Give and I Want it That Way, singer Khristopher is back with another appetising cover.His latest release is a rendition of Richard Marx’s 1989 hit, Right Here Waiting For You.“I used to love this song when I was much younger, and still do. I was always a fan of slow jams, especially songs like this,” Khristopher told this column.Khristopher has been knocking on the door of stardom since the late 1990s. He previously worked with Louis Malcolm’s Mo Music label and later Kingston 6 Records. He is now doing things on his own.“I’ve been trying to get a team together to work with. I think that makes your dream work,” he said. “I’ve started my label Singry Records and doing a lot more producing and songwriting.”Recently, he recorded songs for the Stone Love label as well as for producers Michael ‘Askel’ Fairman and Damion ‘Congo Man’ Rose.
