FROM the group of 18 contestants who participated at Tastee Talent Trail road show/fun day held at Manchester High School in Mandeville on Saturday, eight will be selected.The lucky eight will join a field of 24 other contestants who were selected from previous road shows.According to Howard McGowan, Tastee Talent Trail communication manager, the dance groups have improved significantly when compared to the competition’s previous staging.“The dance level has exceeded previous years, but the singers continue to dominate the competition,” McGowan told the Jamaica Observer.The chosen few comprises seven singers and a dance group. The batch includes Marshalee Guthery, who did a rendition of the Four Tops’ I Believe in You and Me; Kerri-Ann Tiwien, who performed Adele’s Don’t You Remember; Dean McGowan, impressed with an original composition titled Mary Mary; while Kerriann Miller covered Jimmy Cliff’s Many Rivers to Cross. Kevrol Diah sang Rihanna’s Stay; Johnell Matthews performed Mary J Blige’s I’m Going Down, and Dane Williams did a rendition of The Manhattans’ Kiss and Say Good Bye. The Str8 Edge Society Dancers were the only dance outfit selected.The group of 32 will face further elimination, bringing the contestants to 10 on November 21 at Tastee’s headquarters in Cross Roads in St Andrew.
