Monday, July 08, 2013 | 6:50 AMKINGSTON, Jamaica – Tropical Storm Chantal formed over the Atlantic early Monday and was moving rapidly towards the Lesser Antilles, the Meteorological Service reported.At 4:00 am Monday the centre of Tropical Storm Chantal was located near Latitude 10.4 degrees north and Longitude 49.5 degrees west or about 1130 kilometres east-southeast of Barbados.Tropical Storm Chantal is not a threat to Jamaica at this time, the Met Service said. Chantal is moving towards the west near 43 km/h. The west-northwestward motion at about the same speed is expected over the next couple of days. On the forecast track, the centre of Chantal should approach the Lesser Antilles late Monday night or early Tuesday and move into the eastern Caribbean Sea late on Tuesday.Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 km/h with higher gusts.
