28 July 2013 Last updated at 05:41 ET Police have closed Gloucester Park to carry out forensic examinations Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man who was stabbed to death in Gloucester.
The victim, who has not been named, was found just before 20:00 BST on Saturday at Park End Road.
The road borders Gloucester Park where the city had been holding its annual carnival which includes a procession.
Police said two men and a woman were being held on suspicion of murder. Det Insp John Thompson said: “This type of incident is extremely rare.”
He added: “The investigation is ongoing and three people are currently in custody.
“However, we would still like to speak to anyone who was in or around Gloucester Park at the time and who might have seen what happened.”
Events cancelledLeader of the city council Paul James said: “Clearly our thoughts are with the victim’s friends and family.
“It’s been carnival day in the city, it’s been very busy. People were having a good time so it has in a lot of ways taken the shine off that.
“But the most important thing is to remember is that someone has lost their life and a murder investigation is taking place.”
He added that two family day events, taking place in Gloucester Park, had been cancelled as police had closed the park to carry out forensic examinations.
He said the council hoped to reschedule the events as quickly as possible.
It is not yet known when the park will reopen and a police cordon remains in place.
