Dancehall artiste Tommy Lee Sparta says he will deliver a musical massacre at Sting this year. The Vybz Kartel prot?g? argues that his career has reached the stage to indulge in musical warfare, however, only a few will feel his lyrical wrath.

He also had strong words for Gage and Alkaline, who he says have stolen from elements of his persona.

“Mi come with a new style inna music and people a try copy it, but people know the original from the followers. A me sey gothic dancehall and start wearmask and now Alkaline a wear mask and everybody dun know Gage a knock-off already, so I guess I am the trendsetter,” Tommy Lee Sparta said.

The deejay also told THE WEEKEND STAR that he was born as a warrior.

“Sting is about clash and wi reach the level inna music fi duh dat. But a nuh everybody wey diss wi a guh get up and answer. But fans will see a different side of Tommy Lee and when mi roll out, somebody a guh get massacre. Gage how yu fi war wid di dead? Mi not even have to prepare for him because mi born a warrior,” Tommy Lee Sparta said.

The deejay recently released a diss single aimed at Gage and Alkaline called Bad Man Dawg. He also called the latter a coward during an interview recently.

“Alkaline a coward man, him nuh bad,” Tommy Lee Sparta laughed. The deejay released several music videos during the course of 2014 and also received an award from Hapilos music distributors for the impressive sales of the single Psycho.

The ‘greatest one night show’, Magnum Sting 2014, will be the only place to be on December 26. The event will see several of dancehall’s biggest acts, alongside some of reggae music’s best offerings.

For the thousands of persons who will be interested in attending the event, there will be an entrance fee of $2,000, presold $3,000 at the gate.

However, Magnum Sting in association with THE STAR is offering a one-day-only discounted ticket sale day on December 19.

Magnum Sting announces line-up

The excitement is intensifying for the Sting Boxing Day showdown at Jamworld as the event’s promoter, Supreme Promotions, headed by Isaiah Laing, unveils its official poster.

The chosen acts to bring fireworks on the Magnum Sting stage have been revealed. This year’s theme, ‘Two mega shows, one night’ highlights the best of dancehall and reggae and comprises: the ‘Rapture Rematch’, Who’s Bad, Electronic Dancehall, Just Dance, The Fabulous Five and Fire at midnight.

The reggae show includes with Capleton’s ‘Fire at midnight’. Tarrus Riley, Etana, I-Wayne, Kabaka Pyramid, Ikaya, Teflon, Droop Lion and Nature are among the reggae performers who will carry the flaming torch until 2 a.m. The Electronic Dancehall segment that includes performances by Zhavea and Orisha Sound, will then provide the interlude before the hardcore dancehall presentation.

Reigning

A $1.5m prize will be on the table for the ‘Rapture Rematch’ featuring the reigning clash champion, Blak Ryno and the two-time title holder, KipRich. “This rematch is in high demand. A lot of patrons want to see the result; if KipRich was prepared for Ryno,” said Heavy-D, director at Supreme Promotions.

KipRich is already in lyrical war mode based on Duppy Walk, which he released earlier this week. Gage and Tommy Lee Sparta appear to be under the same spell, launching lyrical attacks at each other with fresh diss tracks. Both are expected to settle the score and prove, ‘Who’s Bad’. Gully Bop the man of the moment is firing shots and ready to take on anyone including the don gorgon, Ninja Man. Will Ninja accept his challenge? .

Patrons will also know the outcome of the Aidonia, Masicka feud. The newcomer has been bragging about his lyrical prowess and is eager to finish Aidonia and his JOP crew.

The dancehall show will also feature the “fabulous five”: Ishawna, Stylish, Tiana, Konfydence and Destiny Sparta. The dancers have a similar responsibility. Ding Dong, Chi Ching Ching and Quick Cook will bring the dancing fever. Demarco, Ryme Minista and Kalado are among other major acts for the Dancehall show.

Magnum Sting 2014 is now one of the most talked about events of the year.

Tabloid sting is first test for UK"s new regulator

LONDON, England (AFP) – Britain’s new press regulator was asked Monday to consider whether a tabloid sting operation that prompted a junior minister to resign broke the newspaper code of conduct, in its first real test following the phone-hacking scandal.

Brooks Newmark, a lawmaker in Prime Minister David Cameron’s Conservative party and a married father of five children, stepped down on Saturday after the Sunday Mirror tabloid said he had sent an explicit photo to an undercover reporter.

The reporter had posed as a pretty blonde party activist and flirted online with the 56-year-old politician, who had led efforts to get more female Tories elected to parliament.

The male reporter also made contact with several other Conservative lawmakers — one of whom, Mark Pritchard, is now making a complaint to the media regulator.

“Test for IPSO and Met Police. I will write to both today about Sunday Mirror story. Was the criminal law and IPSO Code of Conduct broken?” Pritchard tweeted.

IPSO was set up to replace the Press Complaints Commission (PCC), which was discredited after the revelation of widespread phone-hacking at the News of the World tabloid.

It only started work this month but critics already question how effective it can be given that, like the PCC, it involves members of the press regulating themselves.

The Sunday Mirror defended the sting operation against Newmark, which it said was conducted by a freelance reporter.

“The investigation, which had a clear public interest, was carried out following information from a reliable source,” the paper’s weekend editor, Alison Phillips, told the Guardian newspaper.

However, media commentator Roy Greenslade, a professor of journalism at City University in London and a former editor of the Daily Mirror, disagreed.

He noted that so-called “fishing expeditions” when subterfuge is used on the off-chance of discovering some wrongdoing are not allowed under the Code of Conduct unless there are existing grounds for the investigation and it is “in the public interest”.

“I don’t think one can say within the code that this was justified,” Greenslade told BBC radio.

He added of Newmark: “He hadn’t broken the law, it was an adult to adult piece of foolishness. I can’t see that this really advanced investigative journalism in any way.”

It also emerged Monday that the photograph on the fake Twitter account used to communicate with the politician was of a Swedish model, who had not given her permission.

“I feel shocked. It’s unpleasant that someone used the picture like that without permission,” 22-year-old Malin Sahlen told Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet.
