Jada Pinkett Smith gets turned on when Will Smith challenges her spiritually and intellectually.

The 43-year-old Gotham actress, who has son Jaden, 16, and daughter Willow, 14, with the former Fresh Prince of Bel Air star, 46, admits she is very attracted to his brain.

She said: “I read a lot of spiritual and self-expansion books. Will and I were just reading The Tao of Physics by Fritjof Capra, together, and having long discussions about it.

“It’s a big turn-on for me in a relationship to be spiritually and intellectually challenged by Will. To me, it’s like foreplay! Of course, I enjoy that I have sex in my relationship, but I think this other intellectual aspect is quite unique and something that strongly connects us.”

Meanwhile, Jada claims she no longer pushes herself in the gym as hard as she used to, because she is getting older.

She told Shape magazine: “My energy levels just aren’t the same. My joints, my knees, the amount of weight that I can push versus what I did in my twenties, how long I’m willing to work out. For example, I’m not staying at the gym for two hours anymore. I hit it and quit it … I’m not going to stress my body that way anymore. I can’t.”

Charlie Smith stun Wolmer’s 2-1

CHARLIE Smith High and St George’s College advanced to the semi-finals of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports’ Association (ISSA)/LIME Walker Cup knockout competition with victories over Wolmer’s Boys’ and Camperdown High, respectively, at the Constant Spring playing field yesterday.

Charlie Smith stunned Wolmer’s 2-1, while St George’s College outscored Camperdown 4-2 in the opening game of the double-header.

Charlie Smith have now booked a date with 2011 winners St George’s College.

The mouth-watering clash in the featured game which started out very shakily, had the large crowd on its feet in the latter stages of the first half. Joel Pagan opened the scoring for Wolmer’s in the 40th minute with a well-driven shot from the edge of the 18-yard box, which eluded a diving Leon Taylor in goal for Charlie Smith.

However, Charlie Smith fired back in the 45th minute through a powerfully driven free kick by defender Odane Samuels from close to the half-line that burst through the hands of Dane Lee, who did duties in goal for Wolmer’s.

Charlie Smith’s marksman Bebeto McDonald then sent his team to the break 2-1 up when he drove home a firm right-footer from close range in time added.

The scores would remain unchanged for the remainder of the game as both teams failed to capitalise on chances created in what was an even more action-packed half.

Wolmer’s talismanic player Jaheel Hyde brought the crowd to its feet when he eluded two Charlie Smith defenders and rifled a long-range left-footed shot which sailed over the crossbar.

McDonald replied for Charlie Smith shortly after with a display of nippy footwork to get by a defender and fire a curling shot which came back off the upright.

Winning coach Jerome Waite lauded his team for a spirited performance.

“It was a very tactical game and very physical. Wolmer’s is a much stronger team than the Charlie Smith team, but today (yesterday) the youngsters rose above expectations.

“This is a team that defeated us last year and went on to win the Walker Cup and we were definitely looking to return that favour and these players have done it well today,” he said.

Waite added that sterling defensive work by Samuels to keep Jaheel Hyde out of the game resulted in his team coming out victorious.

Meanwhile, Wolmer’s coach Ludlow Bernard was left disappointed with the loss, but took some positives from the encounter.

“I am going to look on the positive side of the loss here today. I think it will awaken our little slumber and allow us to regenerate and come forward again. I have no doubt we still have the quality, and it is unfortunate again our ‘keeper let us down. But then again that is something that we have to deal with and sort it out properly,” he lamented.

The pipe-opener between St George’s College and Camperdown High was expected to be a thriller and it lived up to its billing. In the end it was the North Street-based outfit who came out victors through a brace from Shevon Stewart in the 18th and 45th minutes, and a goal each from Amoy Brown in the 16th, and Gregory Messam Jr in the 90th, while Kevin Clarke in the 45th and Ramish McKnight in the 88th, were the goal scorers for Camperdown.

Charlie Smith High had to settle for a share of the spoils as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Excelsior High in Group B of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/LIME Manning Cup football competition at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex yesterday.

Despite dropping points for a second time, Charlie Smith continue to lead the group on 14 points, three ahead of Excelsior, who now have 11 points. Third-placed Vauxhall High moved up to eight points following a 5-0 whipping to Mona High, who remain at the bottom of the table on one point.

The start of the game was delayed by 20 minutes to allow Excelsior the opportunity to change their jerseys to avoid a clash of colour with the hosts. When the game eventually got under way both teams seemed unsettled, but it was Charlie Smith who came close to opening the scoring when a shot by Keyshawn Williams came back off the upright.

However, it was Excelsior who broke the deadlock in the 12th minute when Tereek Anderson scored a well placed free kick from just outside the 18-yard box.

The hosts then came into their own and created numerous goal scoring opportunities but failed to beat goalkeeper Romario Palmer, who was outstanding in the goal for Excelsior.

The second half was dominated by Charlie Smith as Excelsior were forced to play a more defensive formation having just one player up front. The Jerome Waite-coached Charlie Smith were all over the Excelsior defence and finally got the equaliser in the 67th minute when a long pass from Odane Samuels picked out Chevon Crooks, who outsprinted two defenders before firing past Palmer.

Charlie Smith could have won by a wide margin but faulty shooting resulted in them having to settle for the draw.

Waite believed that his team’s dominance should have given them the three points, but he is not perturbed by the draw.

“This game was dominated by the Charlie Smith team, we created many chances in which the game should have been out of the reach of this team as early as the first half. Excelsior played a spirited first half, but we took over the game in the latter stages, so overall it was a good performance and a point in the end is good because we are still in the lead,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Meanwhile, Leebert Halliman said that faulty defending cost them the game.

“We were not marking at the back and they got a goal. We still have a few of our players out with the chik-V, but we still came here and gave it our best shot, despite the weakness in our backline which resulted in us giving up a goal,” he lamented.

Smith fails, Bravo flickers but Chennai still win handsomely

BANGALORE, India (CMC) — West Indies one-day captain Dwayne Bravo played a minor role while opener Dwayne Smith failed again, but Chennai Super Kings did just enough to beat Perth Scorchers by 13 runs and edge closer to a semi-final spot in the Champions League Twenty20 here Saturday.

Sent in, Chennai overcame a terrible start to post 155 for six off their 20

overs and then produced a clinical bowling performance to restrict Scorchers to 142 for seven at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

With the victory, Chennai moved to 10 points from their full complement of matches and into second spot behind Kolkata Knight Riders who have already qualified for the semis.

Chennai can only be caught by Lahore Lions who have six points and play Scorchers in their final game tomorrow.

Hunting a crucial win, Chennai stumbled to 56 for four in the 12th

over before being rescued by a 64-run, sixth-wicket stand between Ravi Jadeja (44 not out) and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (35).

Brendon McCullum (11) and Suresh Raina perished within the space of three balls in the third over to leave Chennai on 16 for two.

Smith, recently named in West Indies one-day team for the tour of India, continued his struggles with the bat when he struck two fours in scoring 11 from 13 balls before he was bowled by seamer Yasir Arafat with the score on 33 for three.

When Mithun Manhas fell for 18, Chennai were 56 for four, but Bravo combined with Jadeja to add 23 for the fifth wicket and stem the haemorrhaging.

Bravo scored a patient 27 from 26 balls with a four and a six and was threatening to explode when he missed a prod at one from off-spinner Ashton Turner and was bowled off stump in the 15th over.

However, Jadeja smashed four fours and two sixes in his 28-ball knock, while Dhoni thumped four massive sixes in his 16-ball stay, to rally the innings.

Scorchers were never really in the hunt, losing wickets steadily, as off-spinner Ravi Ashwin with three for 20 from his four overs, crippled the innings.

JLP Councillor Smith questions Shaws credibility

Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Councillor, Duane Smith, has said that the failure of deputy leader Audley Shaw to register his North East Manchester constituency until late July, should make it very difficult for the party to believe in his credibility as a leader.

Smith, the 31-year-old Councillor for the Chancery Hall division in North West St Andrew, which is represented by his father, the veteran JLP MP Derrick Smith, said that it will be extremely difficult for Shaw to explain why he missed both the March 31 constitutional deadline, and the extended deadline of May 15, and only registered his constituency on July 22.“That is about a month before it became known that he was planning to challenge Andrew Holness for the leadership of the party: What does that say?” Smith asked.He said that after the issue involving three of the party’s four deputy leaders, whose election at last year’s conference was opposed by Everald Warmington in a petition to the Supreme Court in November 2012 seeking an injunction, which almost aborted the annual conference, Shaw should have acted more responsibly in having his constituency meet this year’s deadlines for registration.“That is not how someone who wants to lead by example behaves. It is irresponsible and inexcusable, and I would like to hear his explanation as to why that happened,” Smith said.Smith has shown no reluctance in expressing his support for Holness, since the leadership issue arose in August. He said that he supports Holness because he thinks he represents the future of both the party and the country.“For all practical purposes, I believe that investing in the leadership of Andrew will yield long term benefits for the Jamaica Labour Party. Investing in Shaw will inevitably lead to another potentially unsettling and divisive leadership contest in the near future. The truth is that the party would not have an extended future with Shaw,” he suggested.“Holness is not only 20 years younger than Shaw, he is at least of equal competence and travels with much less baggage to the next general elections,” Smith said.He stated that Shaw’s campaign so far, has only sought to bash Holness on the issue of party organisation, but he noted that Holness has not had two years in the position of leader, while Shaw has been in leadership positions for more than 15 years.“Indeed, the very things of which he complains, would be the responsibilities of the deputy leaders, of which he is one. For him to come now and criticise, is hypocritical and disingenuous. I am not surprised to have learnt that his constituency was not registered in time and possible may not be able to vote for him,” he said.“Conversely, the Leader has always been an institution man for the party, never seeking office in a contentious way, and always seeking to unite and reconcile. I like that about the leader,” Smith said.Smith claimed that Shaw poured scorn on the party’s grassroots supporters who fear that a challenge would split the party in two, by calling them aggressors.He said that Holness has been much more “respectful and embracing” of the grassroots and, in his own style, has explained to them that a challenge is good, and that the party will manage it in such a way that at the end of the day, the party wins.“There is no doubt that the party needs reform, but it cannot reform away from its base. The Leader must be able to face and reason with the base of the party to ensure that they are on board. Change takes time and patience. It cannot be bought. Jamaica’s Junior team captain Ashante Smith pulled off a spectacular come-from-behind win on Wednesday night to claim the Under-19 Boys’ title at the Caribbean Area Squash Association’s (CASA) Junior Championships currently under way in Trinidad and Tobago.

The in-form teenager grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat, rallying from a two-game deficit to stun local hero Mandela Patrick. Battling his opponent and a boisterous home crowd, Smith dug deep to beat Patrick 5/11, 8/11, 13/11, 11/7, 11/4. The victory allowed Smith to end his junior playing career on a high note, claiming his first regional title before officially moving to the senior ranks.“I couldn’t be more proud of Ashante,” said Rene Denis, national junior squash coach. “It took heart and guts to come back from two down and when he scored the winning point, if I hadn’t been screaming so loudly I would have been crying.”Buoyed by Smith’s win, the Jamaican boys delivered a series of blistering performances to trample regional kingpins Guyana in the first round of the team competition yesterday.All Jamaica Under-17 champion Jake Mahfood roared back from early elimination in the individual competition to defeat the newly crowned Under-17 Caribbean champion Nyron Joseph 11/5, 11/5, 7/11, 12/10.In a similar vein, All Jamaica Under-19 champion Julian Morrison beat Stephen Xavier 11/6, 11/8, 15/13 to avenge his defeat earlier this week in the individual competition at the hands of the Guyanese player.The victories continued with team captain Smith, who again showed his grit, battling through another gruelling five-setter to beat JC Jeffrey 17/15, 9/11, 8/11, 17/15, 11/9.All Jamaica Under-15 champion Tahjia Lumley lost 4/11, 5/11, 8/11 to Ben Mendecki, and Under-13 champion Adam Ardito went down to Shomari Wiltshire 11/9, 6/11, 5/11, 4/11.However, with wins from Smith, Mahfood and Morrison, Jamaica claimed top points and bragging rights over their age-old rivals.Another round of victories came in the Girls’ team competition where Jamaica easily beat the OECS.
