KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police from the St Andrew South division say that a man who was fatally shot Tuesday during a shoot-out is a suspect in the murder of four men in Seaview Gardens, St Andrew some weeks ago.The dead man has been identified by his alias ‘Bubba’.Police reported that they were on an operation close to the intersection of Spanish Town and Waltham Park roads when they received information that a wanted man was at a dance in the area. The police say that they went to the dance, identified the man and attempted to accost him when he pulled a firearm and opened fire at the police team. During an ensuing shootout, Bubba was fatally shot and a revolver taken from him, the police reported. The area remained tense Wednesday morning as residents refuted the police’s version of events.The four deceased, Dwight Robinson, Jerome Anthony Gooden, Ricardo Lawes and Omar Smith were gunned down as they played cards on White Sea Drive in Seaview Gardens.Like our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/jamaicaobserverFollow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/JamaicaObserver

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland man accused of holding three women captive in his home for about a decade has pleaded guilty in a deal to avoid the death penalty.Ariel Castro entered the plea Friday. In exchange, prosecutors are recommending the 53-year-old Castro be sentenced to life without parole plus 1,000 years.Castro says a pornography addiction and “sexual problem” have taken a toll on his mind. He also says he was sexually abused as a child.He had been charged in a 977-count indictment. He is pleading guilty to 937 counts.He had been scheduled for trial August 5 on allegations that include repeatedly restraining the women and punching and starving one woman until she had a miscarriage.The women disappeared separately between 2002 and 2004. They escaped from Castro’s house May 6.
