Furtyle Brian

Ever since he appeared on TVJ’s ER last week, dancehall artiste Furtyle Brain has seen an explosion in his Facebook likes and YouTube hits.

“Right now, mi a buck dem wicked. I got more than 700 Facebook likes in two days. Mi spins on YouTube almost double, and mi get whole heap a likes and a lot of dislikes, too,” he said, laughing.

The dislikes have become par for the course, especially with some people who have taken umbrage with the goat horns sticking out of his head.

“Some people ah bun mi out inna the streets and ah call me ‘baphomet’, and dem tings deh, but mi no pay dem no mind. You cannot be afraid to be yourself. Mi a live how mi waan live. Mi nah praise evil, or worship the devil, and the girls dem love it. Ah nuff ah dem nuh stop pree me,” he said.

Real or not, Furtyle’s new horned look is a guaranteed conversation-starter, and his radio interviews on HITZ, with Roderick Howell, and on RJR, with broadcaster Markland Edwards, have only stoked the public’s curiosity.

Dancehall fans are also responding to the hard-hitting Pocket Money for Andrew Blacks of UIM Productions, on the ‘Ebola’ rhythm. There are plans to shoot a video for that single.

“I am definitely going to shoot a video for it and also for Bun Fi Run, featuring Adina Myrie,” he said.

Other songs which are getting excellent rotation are Hunting Time, for producer Dinero, and No Almshouse, for Jamie Roberts for YVP Records.
