KINGSTON, Jamaica – After a five year break, singer Tom Laing returned to recording music last year. The break, it seems, paid off as he had two hit songs.
Finally Free and One More Thing, both produced by Donny Marshall, made reggae charts in New York City and South Florida.
The former entered the Jamaica Music Countdown Top 25 Reggae Singles, the Foundation Radio New York Top 30 Reggae and South Florida Top 30 Reggae charts.
One More Thing has also made those charts. The songs were selected for the top 100 (reggae) Songs of the Year in New York City, compiled by veteran broadcaster Clinton Lindsay. Finally Free came in at number three while One More Thing is at 73.
“Last year was one of the best years for me musically. I have a lot more ground to cover, I plan to release some more singles during the early part of the year before I release my album,” said Laing.
One of those singles is an update of his 2006 song, Belly of The Beast, which is expected out in March.
Laing is originally from Trench Town and has lived in the United States since 1978.
