Cops in Trinidad shoot armed man terrorising children

Sunday, September 28, 2014 | 10:19 AM

LA BREA (Trinidad Express) – A man who threatened to hurt a group of children playing on the roadway was shot twice by police on Saturday.

The 30-year-old man was seen chasing the children with a pair of scissors and a knife along Cemetery Street, La Brea, around 1 p.m.

Residents contacted the La Brea Police Station and Corporal Darrel Blackman and Constable Khan responded to the report.

Police said the officers ordered the suspect to drop the weapons, but he refused. The man charged at the officers with the knife, threatening to stab them.

Blackman shot the suspect in the left leg. But the enraged man did not stop, police said.

Investigators said the suspect continued running towards the officers and he was shot in the stomach.

The man was relieved of his weapons and taken to the Point Fortin District Hospital.

He was then transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital in critical condition.

La Brea police are continuing investigations.

Dancehall artistes Danielle D.I and Kiprich have denied allegations made by a Twitter account called Kiprich Sting King, which claims that the artistes had sexual relations while filming the music video for their recent collaboration.

In a series of controversial posts, the Twitter account claims that the two recording artistes have been dating and even implies that Kiprich was the person who led to Danielle D.I’s failed relationship with former Jamaica and Stoke City star footballer, Ricardo Fuller.

“A me slap har wey from Fuller. Who a di reaaal baller now,” one of the tweets from Kiprich Sting King read.

The WEEKEND STAR contacted Kiprich for clarification and he said persons have been targeting his social network pages since the start of the year.

“This is a fake Twitter account, my real account is Kiprich Nuh Behaviour. I wouldn’t guh mek another twitter account fi talk things bout people. A just some mischievous people, me and D.I just do a song and video called Hear The Pree, and we bring out the concept in the video. When a man a guh call people name dem thing deh nuh good, me wouldn’t do that. That’s not my style,” he continued.

Get a grip

“The last time dem target mi Facebook a try get money from people and now this. Some people just idle and need something to do. Get a grip, get a hold a yu life man. I am a private person, I am more the sneaky type,” Kiprich said.

Danielle D.I also criticised the creators of the Twitter page, claiming that they were trying to hamper the progress of Hear The Pree.

“Are you serious, sex on set of a video? What kind of groupie business dat dem a pull off pan mi? This pass devastating. I woke up in such a good mood, I don’t know why people come up with this right now. Imagine you are trying to move forward and people are trying to drag you backwards. I have a very private life and I have moved on with my life, so I am deeply hurt to hear comments like this. Just stop being malicious and stop hating … oh God,” she said.

Danielle D.I and Kiprich recently released a raunchy trailer for their video for Hear Di Pree that will be officially released in July. She also has a new single titled, Heads Up produced by Sly and Robbie. Kiprich is also promoting the single Loyalty Over Royalty and will soon be leaving for Canada alongside Outaroad Records label mate Berri.

The Kiprich Sting King account now has over 2,000 followers, while Kiprich’s original account Kipponubehavior has over 25,000 followers.

Gong Royal to shoot "This Is So Wrong" video in JA

Gong Royal

Buoyed by the positive response of music industry critics to his current single, ‘This Is So Wrong’, talented US-based singjay, Gong Royal, is going full speed ahead with the making of the music video, which will be shot in Jamaica.

This Is So Wrong, which is in fact a love song, can be described as the ultimate cheaters’ anthem with an exciting twist. Gong Royal, real name is Keegan King, teamed up with hit-making label, Notice production, to infuse the perfect flair and balance in the song.

Of the single, Gong Royal, who is managed by Marshall Entertainment, noted that it was ‘just reality’. He added that this kind of “love quadrangle is more common than we think”.

“Many of us have either been involved in or know of a situation in which both cheaters are friends with the spouses of the person with whom they are cheating. So it makes the situation more potentially explosive and heightens the need for secrecy,” he said, adding that his own experience led him to write the lyrics for this song.

The single has been garnering quite a bit of love on radio in Jamaica, Virginia and other places in the US, as well as Toronto, Canada, where the artiste has been making inroads with a mini media blitz. This Is So Wrong is now available for download on iTunes.

Born in St Mary, Gong Royal has always been passionate about music especially dancehall and it is no surprise that his fascination began as early as childhood where he started a music group along with several of his friends. As his popularity developed, Gong set his sights on seriously taking his talent to the studio and beyond.
