Justin Bieber stripped down to his underpants onstage Wednesday night after receiving boos from an unimpressed crowd.

The 20-year-old singer was making a surprise appearance at charity fundraiser event Fashion Rocks in New York when he decided to ditch his clothes in order to show off his muscled physique.

The As Long As You Love Me hitmaker and model Lara Stone, 30, were introducing a performance by Rita Ora which featured Calvin Klein jeans and underwear, prompting Justin to show off his own.

Walking onstage to loud boos, Bieber asked: “So, uh, I actually don’t feel comfortable unless I’m in my Calvin’s so … is that cool?”

The rebellious youngster was encouraged by Lara to take his gear off, despite the audience objection, and proceeded to shed his entire outfit apart from his Calvin Klein underwear.

He then tried to encourage the crowd to stop booing and to start cheering.

After the event, Bieber joked on Twitter: “Grandma always said kill ‘em with kindness … and then strip on live national tv. Lol (sic)”

LOS ANGELES, California, (AFP) — Justin Bieber was stopped for running a stop sign and driving without a licence Wednesday, in the Canadian teen sensation’s latest run-in with traffic police, a spokesman said.

The 19-year-old was pulled over while driving his white Ferrari at 4:30 am near his home in Calabasas, northwest of Los Angeles, said LA County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore.“I don’t know how many times he’s been stopped out there driving, but he has a history,” Whitmore said, referring to Bieber’s growing list of brushes with the law.In June, Los Angeles police investigated an incident in which a car driven by Bieber hit a paparazzo, but not to press charges.The previous month he made headlines after neighbours in his exclusive Calabasas neighbourhood — where neighbours include the family of late pop icon Michael Jackson — accused him of driving recklessly through the area.Bieber, a Canadian by birth, bought his Calabasas home in June, according to celebrity news website TMZ. New California residents are required to get a driving licence in the western US state within 10 days of moving there.“If someone has a residence in other state or country, he or she can have a licence from that state or country as well as one from California,” said Whitmore.“But it was within the authority of the deputy who stopped him to issue him a citation for driving without a valid California licence if he wanted and the deputy did just that.”A friend who was following in another car took the wheel of Bieber’s car and drove him home, the spokesman added.
