The Area 3 Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division seized more than 450 pounds (204.5 kilograms) of compressed ganja in Hayes district, Clarendon, on Tuesday.
No one was arrested in connection with the find.
Information received is that between the hours of 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., lawmen were on operation in the area when they signalled the driver of a Toyota Altis to stop. The driver attempted to elude the police, but the vehicle was later intercepted. The driver, however, ran from the motor vehicle.
The vehicle was subsequently searched and 95 parcels containing compressed ganja weighing approximately 455 pounds (206.8 kilograms) was found. The estimated value of the illicit drug is $2.3 million.
Investigations continue.
