Path beneficiaries are to be reduced

Over the next two years it is projected that there will be a reduction in the number of persons who receive welfare support from the State.
The Social Security Ministry is introducing a J$600m welfare-to-work programme for 2,000 beneficiaries of the Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education (PATH).
The initiative will be carried out under the Steps-To-Work programme.
It will target working age members of families on PATH, providing them with training and on-the-job experience to enable them to seek and retain employment.
Social Security Minister Derrick Kellier says the programme will support the Ministry’s graduation strategy, which will see one thousand PATH families participating in the phased implementation of the initiative.
