The Jamaican House of Representatives on Tuesday passed amendments to the Customs Act.
This will facilitate the automation of key areas at Jamaica Customs, including advanced passenger and cargo information, according to Major Richard Reece, Commissioner of Customs.
He told RJR News that it will also require the submission of electronic entries.
“The Bill also has provisions where you have definitions as to when goods are entered, when goods are payable,” he added.
Major Reece disclosed that further amendments will be made to the Customs Act. This, he said, will enhance trade facilitation.
