Thursday, January 02, 2014DEEJAY Sister Nancy celebrates her birthday on January 4 at the Exclusive Lounge in Queens, New York.The younger sister of deejay Brigadier Jerry, Sister Nancy (born Ophlin Russell-Myers) was one of the female deejays who came to prominence during the 1980s at a time when dancehall music was dominated by men.In 1980, producer Winston Riley recorded her first single, Papa Dean, for his Techniques label. She went on to have success with songs such as One Two, Money Can’t Buy Me Love, Transport Connection and Bam Bam.In the 1980s, Nancy also worked with producer Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes, recording songs like A No Any Man Can Test Sister Nancy and Jah Mek Us Fe A Purpose, done with Yellowman.She currently works as an accountant with a bank in New Jersey.
