PORT ANTONIO, Portland – As heavy rains continue to lash the parish of Portland over the last twelve hours, numerous land slippages have occurred at Black Hill along the North Coast highway and a tree has fallen across the road at Brown’s Town Gate restricting traffic flow.
Larger vehicles such as trucks and buses may have to use the Rodney Hall road, an alternative route to and from Hope Bay.
National Works Agency (NWA) teams were on the road on Saturday clearing blockages along the way.
The NWA reported that there are five major land slippages in the Black Hill area and they are working along with Jamaica Public Service (JPS) to remove the fallen tree.
Meanwhile the Orange Bay area and a section of Port Antonio were flooded overnight. However the water has since receded.
