Fire destroys upper St Andrew apartments, damage Westmoreland dwelling

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Fire Sunday night destroyed three apartments in upper St Andrew and partially damaged another.

Information reaching OBSERVER ONLINE is that residents saw smoke coming from the apartment structure and called the fire department. It is said that a unit from Half-Way-Tree responded to put out the blaze.

Damage are estimated at 25,000,000. It’s not known if the building was insured.

Meanwhile, in Westmoreland, the first floor of a two-storey dwelling was also destroyed by fire Sunday morning.

OBSERVER ONLINE was told that residents saw fire coming from one of the back rooms of the building and alerted the police and fire department. A unit from Savanna-la-Mar responded and put out the blaze. The house is said to be insured.

No one was reported injured in the incidents.
