PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti — Jamaica’s Under-17 Reggae Boyz arrived in Haiti Saturday after a one hour chartered flight from the Norman Manley International Airport and have settled in well in preparation for their Caribbean Football Union (CFU) campaign starting Monday.
The 28-strong delegation landed in Haiti approximately 1:40 pm local time, and were greeted by adoring fans at the airport.
The young Boyz were quickly whisked away in three mini-vans for a 30 minute drive to the Royal Oasis Hotel in Port-Au-Prince which offers a wonderful scenic view of hundreds of closely-knitted colourful homes skilfully perched on the hillsides.
The boys rested for a while and were scheduled to have a classroom session with lecturer Onaje Bell to keep them in touch with what they will be missing away from their schools.
The Jamaicans are drawn in Group B alongside Martinique, Guadeloupe and Cuba, and are scheduled to have their first training session on Sunday.
Jamaica’s first match is against Martinique on Monday before facing Guadeloupe on Wednesday. They conclude their group action against Cuba on Friday.
Eight teams are in the tournament of which five will qualify for the CONCACAF round set for Honduras in February.
