Saturday, June 29, 2013 | 11:30 AMKINGSTON, Jamaica — Detectives from the Marine Division seized approximately 150 pounds of ganja during an operation in the vicinity of the Gordon Cay in the Kingston Harbour yesterday. Twenty-four-year-old Dave Copeland, otherwise called ‘Cash Money’ and 26-year-old Kishane Thompson, otherwise called ‘Shane’ both fishermen of Port Henderson Road in St Catherine were taken into custody in relation to the seizure.The police report that about 10:25 am the men were allegedly attempting to attach canisters to a vessel docked in the Kingston Harbour when they were accosted by a Marine Police patrol team. Checks of the area revealed dive tanks, other diving apparatus along with several parcels containing marijuana. The drug has an estimated street value of J$750,000. The men are to appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court next week to answer to the following charges: illegal possession of ganja, dealing in ganja and attempting to export ganja.
