KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica beat England 56-47 in Saturday’s opening Test of the Supreme Ventures Sunshine netball series at the National Indoor Sports Centre a short while ago.
At the end of the third quarter, Jamaica had scored 42 goals to England’s 34 and they maintained a comfortable lead to the final whistle.
The teams were tied 13-13 at the end of the first quarter, but Jamaica upped the tempo to lead 30-24 at half time.
Goal shooter Jhaniele Fowler-Reid, who entered the game in the third quarter, led Jamaica with 19 goals from 25 attempts. Romelda Aiken, the starting goal shooter, was 19 from 26.
For England, Jo Harten led the way with 24 goals from 31 attempts.
The second game is scheduled to be played on Sunday, before the final clash on Tuesday.
