Sasha Dias hopeful for hit in Jamaica

Sasha Dias

Though she was born and raised in South Florida, USA, singer Sasha Dias has always maintained ties to her Jamaican roots.

With her debut album Break Free, recently released, Dias is keen to make a name in her parents’ homeland.

“I would love to have a hit in Jamaica. I know I am getting some radio play there, so I’m hoping for the best,” she said.

The song getting some radio play is Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough, lead single from Break Free.

Dias also has high hopes for other songs from the 14-track set – a cover of Power Of Love (made popular by pop singers Jennifer Rush and Celine Dion) and That’s It.

The granddaughter of singer Winston Dias (who had a hit in the 1960s with Cercy Tea), Dias has visited Jamaica “a couple of times”. She tunes into the latest music coming out of the country through Caribbean radio in South Florida.

“I listen to WAVS 1170 Radio, which plays lots of reggae with Etana, Mavado, Sean Paul, Wayne Wonder, Chronixx, and much more,” she said.

Dias’ first song, I Want You, was released in 2006, followed four years later by a cover of Miley Cyrus’ The Climb.

Break Free is produced by Lindel Thompson for the LTK20 label. It was released digitally by FoxFuse and on compact disc by Tad’s Records.
