Reggae artiste Khago is set to premiere his music video for the effort called Dream on BET’s 106 and Park. The song features a sample of Biggie Smalls’ It Was All a Dream and sees Khago delivering his vocals over a reggae and hip-hop flavoured instrumental.

According to Khago’s publicist, Derven ‘Flexx’ Patterson, the single is already a favourite on several radio stations.

“Dream is currently reaping success as his latest single and the video is already showing signs of doing well. Khago is working on his social media visibility, and we recently released five music videos. The artiste is hardly in Jamaica because we get a lot of bookings in the US. What we want is to keep the videos coming because you know they say out of sight out of mind, so we are putting in the work in all areas so that he still maintains a presence in Jamaica despite being in the US very often,” Patterson said.

Dream was produced by C91 Records. However, the video was directed by Ike X at locations in the US.

“This is the beginning of greater things to come from the wide catalogue of songs that we have been promoting. We also released a music video for Ready for Love recently and that song has been doing well and was produced by Notnice Records on the Devotion rhythm,” Patterson said.

Khago is set to appear on a number of shows locally during the festive season, including GT Taylor’s Christmas Extravanga on Christmas Day.

“Khago has a big fan base in the US, and earlier this year he was awarded for his song, Nah Sell Out, which was one of the most played songs in the US, so right now, it is only fitting that we seek to premiere Dream on BET,” Patterson said.

Dream Weekend pumps $1 billion into Jamaica

One billion dollars! That is what the Smirnoff Dream Weekend means to the economy of Negril and, by extension, the Jamaican economy.

Ten parties – Beach Rave, Twisted Spiritz, Bere Vibes, Yush, Daydreams, Xtreme Wet and Wild, Dream Miami Jouvert, Xclusive, Dream Live and Igloo – have been around as a block as they continue to grow, so too will the value they bring to Jamaica.

Kamal Bankay, one of the promoters involved with the growing franchise that began in 2009, revealed at the recent launch of this year’s ‘weekend’, that tickets have been purchased from as far away as Samoa and Europe, and as close as Mexico. This broadening appeal, he said, has made Dream Weekend arguably the best party in the Caribbean.

It has not gone unnoticed. “The event has served us well over the years. At the event, you get the best of Jamaica’s music, the selectors and our ability to put on great parties,” said Clyde Harrison, executive director of the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), in a ringing endorsement of the 10-party marathon, set for August 1-7.

“We are proud to be a part of that. The number of visitors that this event brings to Jamaica is significant. The man said Samoa, he said Europe, he said all over the world. Now, that’s our business. We bring tourists to Jamaica and if this event brings more visitors to Jamaica, we will always endorse it.”

Jermaine Bibbons of the title sponsor explained why his company, and other are willing partners: “One billion dollars, 10 amazing parties … who wouldn’t want that every year? So Smirnoff is absolutely proud to be a part of these larger-than-life experiences.”

3 August 2013 Last updated at 12:59 ET This August it will be 50 years since the American civil rights leader Martin Luther King delivered his ‘I have a dream’ speech. What effect has that historic moment had on your life?

Dr King grew up in Atlanta under a strict system of racial segregation, which he described in a televised interview for the BBC in 1963.

On 28 August 1963 more than 200,000 Americans joined a march on Washington DC demanding equal justice for all citizens under the law.

On that day, the interracial crowd heard Martin Luther King deliver his famous speech, predicting a time when freedom and equality for all would become a reality in the US.

In 1964 Congress passed the Civil Rights Act outlawing all forms of discrimination against racial, ethnic, national and religious minorities, and outlawing discrimination against women in the US.

Here, the British Poet Benjamin Zephaniah explains what the speech means to him, including why he thinks it was made, how the audience reacted, plus an analysis of its delivery.

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — The Confederations Cup has the final many wanted: a long-awaited matchup between world champion Spain and host Brazil.

The most dominant national team in recent years and the most successful team ever in international play will meet Sunday at Maracana Stadium for the title of the eight-nation warm-up tournament for next year’s World Cup.It will be the first meeting between the nations since 1999 and their first competitive match since Brazil’s 1-0 win on Socrates’ goal in the first round of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.“It’s the match everyone wanted to happen,” said 21-year-old Brazilian forward Neymar, the star of the five-time world champions. “The entire world wanted it and everybody will be watching it.”With more than 70,000 Brazilian fans packing the iconic venue, Brazil will be seeking its third straight Confederations Cup title. Spain enters unbeaten in a world record 29 competitive matches over three years since losing its 2010 World Cup opener to Switzerland.“For us it’s a dream game,” Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque told FIFA.Brazil was eliminated in the quarterfinals in the last two World Cups and hasn’t won a significant title since the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa. Spain won the 2010 World Cup along with the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.“They are the current world champions, they have to be praised,” Brazil captain Thiago Silva said. “But anything can happen in a final, and I’m certain that Brazil will be fully prepared for the matchup.”Spain hasn’t lost in 26 matches overall since a 1-0 defeat against England at Wembley in 2011.
